Philadelphia is a city with a rich occult history and contemporary scene. It’s the birthplace of member of the Order of The White Eagle, Ida Craddock, one time residence of Madam Blavatsky, home to a series of O.T.O. Bodies dating back to the reign of Hymenaeus Alpha, the the longest lived and extant one being Thelesis as well as a Theosophist Lodge that’s maintained a beautiful facility dating back to the early 20th century. Charles Leland’s folklore collection – which included the materials pertaining to the living Strega traditions of Italy – are the basis of the Philadelphia’s Art Musuem (yes, the place that Rocky runs up triumphally — and it’s still a thing for tourists from around the world to do).
