OTO Brother Publishes His First Graphic Novel

Brother Robert Randle, a member of William Blake Lodge, OTO  contributed the (rear) cover painting and the grey tones for the back-up comic included in Brother Richard Kaczynski’s recently published novel The Billionth Monkey. Last year he had his first graphic novel Serial Artist published.

The novel’s synopsis states: “A fine arts gallery painter has claimed the subjects of his paintings are his murder victims, that all the clues necessary to solve his crimes are hidden in his work, and he has challenged the world to catch him. Overnight he has caused a world-wide sensation that vastly polarizes the populace between his devoted supporters and his vehement critics, all filtered through the skewed lens of media info-tainment, and one which those who walk the shadowy halls of power cannot long ignore. But the Serial Artist is hiding dangerous secrets, many he can barely admit even to himself. Serial Artist is a dark mirror held up to the face of American culture, and when you gaze into the Abyss, the Serial Artist also gazes into you.”

The graphic novel itself is structured on the format of the I Ching, in that the two trigrams that make up each of the 64 hexagrams inform both the panel layout and the actual “theme” of each of the 128 pages.
When he began working on Serial Artist, Brother Robert was basically an atheist, and by the time it was done a few years later, he was a practicing magician. In fact, the book was published the same week he started attending O.T.O. functions.
