Film of a Psychedelic Journey of Re-Enchantment

I haven’t vetted the film Solve et Coagula so can’t speak for or against it. But from the posted description it seems like a game enough attempt to trace the myth of the Knights Templar’s oracular head back to that of Orpheus. Pretty ingenious actually. I haven’t come across this theory before though it may have been been circulating for… centuries? millenia? Stated description says:

“An EsotErotic, Surreal and psychedelic journey of re-enchantment, SOLVE et COAGULA is writer-director Orryelle’s first feature-length film.

“With a wyrd mix of contemporary subculture and Ancient archetypes its central message of the reintegration of spirit and matter, mind and body is pertinent in our disconnected times…

“The ancient Thracian bard Orpheus laments ever for his lost love Eurydice. Having returned from the Underworld in his attempts to retrieve her, he can now no longer die, yet lacks presence. So the maenads tear him limb from limb…

“Two thousand years later: An immortal head, disembodied, aware now of the power of the physical form in which it is forever encased. Upon the Templar altar, wise yet carnal, the only way it can now enjoy the idea of a body is through vicarious experience of others enjoying theirs. Thus with the heightened senses remaining in the head, s/he desires to create a new physical vessel…

“3 years in the making, an hypnotic blend of live action and wax stop-animation, sometimes layered with the director’s oil paintings.
Dense with mythic and occult symbolism, it also features a diverse musical soundtrack ranging from neo-classical bardic/operatic to experimental ritual ambient…

“There is also a limited edition illustrated book with DVD (inc. extra features) of this film, which includes a download code for this streaming version. Sample pages and pre-order information at crossroads.wild.net.au/solveetcoagula.htm”
