Details on the First Gnostic Mass Performed in Japanese

Back in May, this blog posted information about the imminent first EGC Gnostic Mass performed with the vernacular sections rendered in Japanese. Here’s the Frater Superior’s Representative for Japan, Frater Hieros Phoenix’s report on this historic event:

“Our first Japanese Gnostic Mass was successfull performed on June 26.  Approximately 40 people attended the Mass. They came from various parts of Japan as well as from overseas with attendees travelling from the USA, UK and Australia. We will celebrate the Liber XV in Japanese at Tokyo regularly.”

The Mass was celebrated at Yayoi-Cho, Nakano, Tokyo. The Mass Officers for this performance were Hieros Phoenix as Priest, Soror C.E.S. as Priestess and Frater V.C.S. as Deacon, all Japanese.

This was the first Japanese Mass since 1988. The Gnostic Mass had been performed in Japan several times before by two different Mass Teams, but in English.
