Demisexuality Does Not Make You a Prude

Have of most or all your romantic relationships begun as friendships?

Do you seem to put more pressure on a first date than your friends do?

Is your sexual attraction to strangers a fleeting thing?

Do your crushes feel like a really big deal?

Have you found yourself very confused in a relationship?

Do people often dub you a prude?

You might be demisexual.

The Demisexuality Resource Center defines demisexuality as “a sexual orientation in which someone feels sexual attraction only to people with whom they have an emotional bond. Most demisexuals feel sexual attraction rarely compared to the general population, and some have little to no interest in sexual activity.” The center further explains, “The thing that makes them [demisexuals] different from asexuals is that they are capable of feeling sexual attraction—it’s just that it only happens after they form a deep emotional bond with someone.”
