Krewe What Thou Wilt Parades On New Orleans Streets This Past Weekend

This passed Saturday, January 23, marked the beginning of the period of intense parading through the streets of New Orleans celebrating Carnival – a time generally given over to pleasures of the flesh (“Carne”) – which will run through “Mardi Gras” (“Mardi” = Tuesday in French, while “Gras” = fat). The kick off parade is by the satirically minded Krewe Du Vieux which is followed by include Krewedelusion whose sub-sub-krewes include Krewe What Thou Wilt whose ranks include many members of Alombrados Oasis, OTO. This is their second year of formally “rolling” with Krewedelusion and their float and costumes bested their amazing productions from last year, against all expectations. Their theme was “Babalon & The Beast” and accordingly their float receated the central image of the “Lust” card from the Thoth tarot deck. Photo credit to Nathan Tucker and Christa Ougel.
