Next Tuesday, Yale Books is issuing a new biography of Gershom Scholem, a pioneer in the academic study of Jewish mysticism. The publisher’s site states:
“Gershom Scholem (1897–1982) was perhaps the foremost Jewish intellectual of the twentieth century.
