Weiser Releases Catalogue 285 of Hermetic Writings

Weiser Antiquarian Booksellers has released catalogue #285 which includes goodies like this:

New York: Ernest Loomis & Co., ND [ 1897 ]. First Edition. Second issue? Hardcover. Octavo. 288pp (+ xii pp adverts). Original pale green cloth with black lettering to spine and upper cover. B&w frontis, b/w illustrations. First edition – second issue (the book itself is an 1897 first edition but at the rear, in the advertisements, is a promotional essay by Ernest Loomis “Our Near Future” dated 1900. The first book of Agrippa’s “Three Books of Occult Philosophy” with various supplementary materials including biographical material on Agrippa by Henry Morley, an appendix entitled “The Magic Mirror: A Message To Mystics by Direction of the Brotherhood of Magic”, etc. Although not up to modern scholarly standards, like the later deLaurence publications this is one of the books that contemporary aspirants to the magical arts actually used. Corners of boards very lightly bruised with a touch of fraying, cloth a little darkened in places, pages evenly toned. Overall a tight, clean, VG+ copy – in fact it is had to imagine a better example could be found. No dust jacket issued. Item #72803
