The Sound of Dizzy Gillespie Turned Visual by Gnostic Saint Harry Everett Smith

Recently canonized Gnostic Saint of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica, Harry Everett Smith (his name is now included in the Saints Collect after Paul Gaugin’s), once created a remarkable painting in which his attempted to transcribe the music of Dizzy Gillespie’s “Manteca” into an abstract visual narrative. The Whitney Museum in NYC is mounting the first solo exhibit of Smith’s work this October through January 2024.
