“The Green Mysteries” Publication Rescheduled for Late January

Three Hands Press, the publishing arm of the Cultus Sabatai has posted an update to their publishing schedule with two titles being moved to a late January publication date. Their FB page sez:

“Two of our largest pre-order book projects, The Green Mysteries and Witch-Ikon have been moved to late January 2019 for their releases. With the closure of Edwards Brothers Malloy, one of America’s oldest and most venerable offset printers, the number of lithographic printers has further shrunk, causing crowded press schedules and increased delay times. As exact dates become available for each of these sizable projects we will make further postings here and in our e-mail newsletter. With regard to both titles, the site will be updated frequently with information, so please check in often.

“With the release of each of these titles, book launch events are planned at several locations. Because our first priority will be to fulfil customer pre-orders made directly from our website, the launch events will occur after we have shipped pre-orders. As shipment time approaches, we will make announcements well in advance of these events so those who wish to attend may plan accordingly.

“Additionally, the deluxe editions for The Celestial Art and The Moribund Portal are still being bound, but both should ship in January. We thank our customers for their continued patience and look forward to offering many new releases for 2019.”

Meanwhile, their website contains more details on the books in question including:

“From the author of Veneficium comes The Green Mysteries, the monumental product of twenty-five years of experiential research on the spiritual and occult properties of plants. Being a compendium of trees and herbs from countless spiritual traditions, this exhaustive Herbal of esoteric botany examines in detail the folklore, magical uses and spiritual essences of the vegetal kingdom. While presenting the material through both magical and mythopoetic narrative, the stance of the book is also grounded firmly in supportive disciplines such as botany, chemistry, and anthropology, and also includes up-to-date phylogenetic and pharmacological findings. The text focuses especially upon the Doctrine of Plant Essence, and how those powers are utilized in the active practice of magic and sorcery.

“Interspersed with encyclopedic plant entries are short narratives addressing such concepts as the Witches’ Flying Oinment, intoxicating incense, the herbal dimsension of Alchemy, and the ‘Green Saints’ such as Al-Khidir, the medieval Wildman, and the forest-dwelling Nymphs who nourished the Greek gods. More than a mere collation of previously existing works on plants, much of the material is drawn directly from the author’s private field notes, diaries, and manuals of magical operation from 1991-2016, presented in an engaging narrative style.
