The city of Meroë in Sudan, is graced with beautifully maintained pyramids. Meroë, is some 125 miles north of Sudan’s capital, Khartoum. The pyramids, ranging from 20 feet to 100 feet tall, were built between 720 and 300 B.C.by Kushite kings. The main depradations at these sites were due to European antiquarians who dynamited the tops off some pyramids in search of buried artifacts.
