The Palgrave Studies in New Religions and Alternative Spiritualities book series has just released a paperback edition of Gordan Djurdjevic’s important monograph “India and the Occult: The Influence of South Asian Spirituality on Modern Western Occultism,” originally published in 2014. The rather terse publisher’s description posted says:
“India and the Occult explores the reception of Indian spirituality among Western occultists through case studies. Rather than focusing on the activities of Theosophical Society, India and the Occult looks at the ‘hard-core’ occultism, in particular the British 20th century currents associated with Aleister Crowley, Dion Fortune, Kenneth Grant, etc.”
actually, this has been available for some time direct from the publisher, as i note while fondly fondling my copy here. Better than paying the exorbitant list price ($78.93) – sign up for an account at Palgrave and wait until they have one of their regular sales. I picked mine up for $11 (!).
thanks for the tip!
