As Monday is the day of the Moon, today we present a recipe for Mooncakes. These treats are a traditional Chinese dessert typically eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival, given to wish good luck.
Mooncakes
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup golden syrup
- 1/2 tsp alkaline water
- 2 tbs vegetable oil
For the filling
- 420 g lotus seed paste
- 6 egg yolk each, salted
- 1 tbs rose-flavored cooking wine
For the egg wash
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbs egg white
