Biblio.com is selling some correspondence between Charles Stansfeld Jones and John Symonds regarding Symonds biography of Aleister Crowley which was then a work in progress. Shipping is only $4.50! Basic cost is $650 – OUCH! The seller’s site says:
“Vancouver, B.C./London: Unpublished, 1948. Fine Condition. Four letters from June 1948, between Charles Stansfeld Jones (Frater Achad) and John Symonds regarding what was to become “The Great Beast”, published London: Rider and Company, 1951. Although the correspondence between the two started out pleasant, it turned a bit sour toward the end when Achad refused to supply Symonds with certain held diaries (said to be later destroyed by Achad as to hide his XI° workings with Crowley). In other extant letters between Achad and Gerald Yorke during this period, Achad was greatly concerned that the biography being written by Symonds was to be a whitewash. Achad could not have been more mistaken… Provenance: From the Archives of The Universal Brotherhood, dispersed after the death of Fredrick J. Kayser, U.B.’s last Mahaguru/Member, successor to Dr. John P. Kowal/Charles Stansfeld Jones.. Unpublished. Four Letters. Fine. 8½” x 11″ (3) / 8½” x 9″ (1).”
