The Daily Mail reports that Biblical scholar Geoffrey Smith noted a chunk of New Testament manuscript being offered on eBay with a starting price of … $99! Smith contacted the seller and requested that he suspend the sale and allow him to study the piece of manuscript – a portion of the Gospel of John dating back to the 3rd or 4th century EV – and, happily the seller agreed. Now that the study’s been completed, the manuscript could go back up at any time. I wonder if there’ll be a “Purchase Now” price?
