Just in time for the 108th birthday of Israel Regardie (November 17, 1907 – March 10, 1985), PBS television’s Antiques Roadshow aired “Junk in the Trunk 5, Hour 2” on Sunday, November 15, featuring a segment in which two Regardie manuscripts, plus a family copy of The Golden Dawn, are appraised. The book, along with the manuscripts for My Rosicrucian Adventure and the introduction to The Golden Dawn, were brought in by Regardie’s nephew, who had received them from his father (Regardie’s brother) twenty years ago and had no idea of their value. The appraiser (Ken Sanders) provides a nice summary of the importance of Israel Regardie and Aleister Crowley to modern Western esotericism: he even pronounces “Crowley” correctly!
