According to a 2017 study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, the average adult currently enjoys sex 54 times a year, a little over once a week. A 2015 study published in Social Psychological and Personality Science showed that couples who had sex more often didn’t report being any happier, and those who had sex less than once a week reported feeling less fulfilled. Of course, all studies have their limitations, and there are reasons that people don’t have sex as often as they might like, including stress, body insecurity, medical issues, smart devices, and waning connection.
