Weiser Antiquarian Books has posted its latest catalogue of rare, vintage occult tomes.

Contemporary half leather over fabric boards. Raised bands and gilt titling to spine. Edges tinted red. GERMAN text – gothic script. A broad survey of occult practices in the “modern world”, from Agrippa and Paracelsus through the nineteenth century Spiritualists and on to then-contemporary esoteric philosophers like Lazar von Hellenbach, and Carl du Prel. The author, Karl Kiesewetter (1854 – 1895) was one of the best known German occultists of the late nineteenth century. A practicing occultist, who experimented with alchemy and herbalism, he was a member of the Theosophical Lodge Germania in Meiningen, and in addition to writing a number of books contributed numerous articles to the Theosophical magazine Sphinx. He is said to have died – deliberately or otherwise – whilst experimenting with Henbane. Contents include detailed studies of: Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa and his system; Paracelsus and the Paracelsists; Facius and Hieronymus Cardanus; Joh. Bapt. A porta; Giordano Bruno and Thomas Campanella; Johann Baptista and Franz Mercurius van Helmont; Robert Fludd and William Maxwell; Christian Thomasius, Joseph Glanvil, Richard Baxter and Augustin Calmet; Emanuel Swedenborg; the German pneumatologists: Jacob Boehme, Ch. Fr. Oetinger, H. Jung-Stilling, C. von Eckartshausen, G. C. Horst, J. F. von Meyer, C.A. von Eschenmayer, G.H. von Schubert, J. Kerner, J. Görres, J. Ennemoser; Andrew Jackson Davis, Allan Kardec, and the Spiritualist movements from 1848; The representatives of theory of psychical powers and the prehistory of this theory: Dr. Bruno Schindler, William Crookes, Eduard Cox, Dr. G. Leather a somewhat rubbed at edges and spine, rubbed patch to lower spine where a shelf-label has been removed (?), tiny ink stamp on title page, no other markings save some light pencilling in the first section of the book. NP [ USA ]: Become a Living God, 2014. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 176pp. Black leatherette boards with silver lettering and decorative elements, b&w illustrations. Housed in a black velvet-like cloth bag with drawstring, printed with “Become A Living God” (BALG) logo, itself in a custom made heavy coated tray box also printed with BALG logo and other text. The first and only edition. Apparently promotional material circulated at the time of publication suggests that only 100 copies of the book were produced, although this is not stated in the volume itself. The text comprises a series of Lessons “of the Flame” which includes detailed instruction on self-initation “from 1st to the 18th Flame and Godhood.” Book is in Fine condition. Bag and box in near Fine condition. Item #57128
