Debunking the 80’s “Satanic Panic”

It’s disheartening to contemplate the fact that legal counsel in child custody cases involving one or more parents who adheres in non-Abrahamic religions will occasionally still invoke the bugaboo of organized “Satanic Child Abuse.”  National law enforcement agencies thoroughly investigated this matter and concluded that it was utterly baseless decades ago.

So Richard Beck’s recently published book, We Believe The Children, which looks at the original 1983 case against the McMartin Preschool (instigated by someone eventually diagnose with paranoid schizophrenia) still would make for not only fascinating but possible useful reading for those who find themselves in court and faced with charges of being in a “cult” partaking of such abhorrent practices.
