Every year around 2,000 Real Dolls sell in Japan, and men are rejecting relationships with biological women in favor of romance with these natural looking but inanimate objects, reports the New York Post. The article goes on to tell the stories of Masayuki Ozaki, Senji Nakajima, Yoshitaka Hyodo, all of whom have live-in relationships with their Real Dolls.
Notably, Japan‘s already has a plummeting birth rate. This brings up economic and social welfare questions as the population ages and the number of young workers dwindles, “But a growing number of men — known as ‘herbivores’ — are turning their backs on marriage and traditional masculine values for a quiet, uncompetitive life.”
