Weiser Antiquarian Books have just published their 144th catalogue, this one focused on the works of the Prophet of the Lovely Star. Their online blurb sez:
“It is a quite varied catalogue, with ordinary second hand books as well as rarities. Amongst the latter are a copy of the special edition (on handmade paper) of Clouds Without Water (1909); the first edition of J. F. C. Fuller’s The Star In the West (which he co-wrote with Crowley), limited to 100 numbered copies SIGNED by both Fuller and Crowley (1907); a first edition of Crowley’s Temperance. A Tract for the Times limited to 100 numbered and signed copies, this copyadditionally signed and inscribed by Crowley to Wilfred Talbot Smith and his brethren in Agape Lodge of the O.T.O. (1939); and a first US edition (in facsimile dust jacket) of The Diary of a Drug Fiend (1923). There are also a number of splendid ephemeral items including: a handwritten and drawn Horoscope prepared by Crowley together with his unpublished typescript delineation of the same (1944); a handwritten and signed letter by Crowley, together with its original envelope with a heavy wax seal impressed with the the cartouche of Ankh-f-n-khonsu from Crowley’s ring (1944); two copies of a duplicated document “An Open Letter to Aleister Crowley” (which he actually wrote to himself)– one of which is heavily annotated in Crowley’s handwriting, and a duplicated copy of his reply (1942). Other unusual ephemeral pieces include a first edition of The Banned Lecture (1930); and original prospectuses for The Equinox of the Gods (1936) and Why Jesus Wept (1904); and two issues of Harold Monro’s The Poetry Review, one with reviews of Crowley’s work, and the other with a previously unpublished poem by him (1912).
“Two quite uncommon, and frequently misdescribed, items are a set of the true first complete colour printing of the Thoth Tarot Deck (Llewellyn Publishing, 1972) and the first Samuel Weiser edition of the Thoth Tarot Deck (Samuel Weiser, 1973). Other unusual items include a first edition of the Israel Regardie-edited Roll Away The Stone: An Introduction to Aleister Crowley’s Essays on the Psychology of Hashish with a presentation inscription by Regardie (1968); an inscribed copy of the first edition of Regardie’s The Eye in the Triangle. An Interpretation of Aleister Crowley (1970); and a signed deluxe edition of the Regardie version of Magick Without Tears (1982). There is also a small collection of works by Frater Achad including a typescript of an apparently unpublished essay: “A Little Essay on the Great Extreme” (1948); and a typescript of a collection of essays: “Partitive Guptabhashyasangraha on Alchemy, Hermeticism, Occultism, Quabala, Rosicrucianism, Yoga, and Allied Subjects” compiled from Achad’s writings by his brethren in the Universal Brotherhood (ca. 1950).”
