We just read the sad news on Genesis Breyer P-Orridge’s FB Newsfeed that Adam Parfrey, owner of, editor at Feral House Publishing has passed away. Djinn says:
“ADAM PARFREY
“this is a tough one…he’s been to visit here a few times (always with a stack of books) and i’ve been meaning to visit him in port townsend for a couple of years…we talked every once in a while and he helped when he was able with my own publishing endeavors…i’ve known him since the late 80’s during the amok bookstore days in silverlake…always funny and incredibly sarcastic, but a very friendly and approachable guy…he was a real friend…the consummate editor he was always correcting my spelling and grammar in posts to the point i believed he cherished finding my mistakes…the books he chose to put out are legendary…i’m reading the francoise hardy book right now and publishing that may’ve been one of his proudest moments…he was beaming when he returned from france having met her in person…his “ye’-ye’ girls” book pretty much changed my record collection and so many others helped me discover new avenues to explore…he used a quote of mine on the front cover of his “citizen keane” book and was always interested in my opinions on upcoming projects and talked of each of them with childlike glee…he got me invited to the first ever screening of “what is it?” at crispin glover’s house which adam appeared in and co-wrote…i actually met quite a few incredible friends through adam and it seems everyone knew and loved him…i’ve not heard yet how he died…if he was sick he has kept it a secret…how and from what isn’t important…it is heartbreaking to lose a creative/shit-stirring soul like adam…the magnitude of his passing is immeasurable with an immense sorrow that will be felt in the independent publishing community and to everyone fortunate enough to have known him…RIP ADAM”
