“Had to leave the Association for the Study of Esotericism’s conference at Rice University in Houston in advance because of other conferences in Europe but Saturday was a glorious day there. I was pleased to serve as a respondent in a session on the Temple of the Vampire with Cathy Gutierrez, Joseph Laycockand Gordon Melton. Great papers by Holly Folk on the esoteric body in Rosicrucianism and alternative medicine, Christa Shusko on Eleanor Kirk and zodiacal love, Mark Lokensgard on Brazilian medium Chico Xavier,and Arthur Versluis, who gave a plenary speech about the problems you still encounter trying to teach Western Esotericism in the US academia. Very pleased to have attended this conference and thanks to ASE for entrusting me with the difficult task of delivering the keynote Rockwell Lecture.”
