Pam Grossman, one of the leading figures in the esoteric and occult revival of this decade, has released a new book published by Penguin Life & Hay House UK (Oct 14, 2025) entitled “Magic Maker, The Enchanted Path to Creativity.”

Grossman’s former work includes co-editing with the formidable Jessica Hundley the beautiful TASCHEN LIBRARY OF ESOTERICA volume “WITCHCRAFT“, a MUST HAVE addition to any serious library. The book is noted as “A spellbinding journey through the global history of witchcraft, the third volume in The Library of Esoterica follows this magickal tradition from its ancient roots to its modern incarnations. Through more than 400 artworks, and revelatory essays and interviews with modern practitioners, Witchcraft chronicles a cathartic evolution, from the craft’s emergence in ancient goddess worship to the embrace by today’s diverse witch community.”

She also authored the highly acclaimed “Waking the Witch: Reflections on Women, Magic, and Power”, which as GoodReads notes “A whip-smart and illuminating exploration of the world’s fascination with witches from podcast host and practicing witch Pam Grossman ( The Witch Wave ), who delves deeply into why witches have intrigued us for centuries and why they’re more relevant now than ever.”.

Pam Grossman hosts The Witch Wave, a podcast for bewitching conversation about magic, creativity, and culture. On each episode, host Pam Grossman (“the Terry Gross of Witches” – Vulture) speaks with a leading visionary about art and Craft.

In 2016 Pam Grossman curated the groundbreaking exhibition “The Language of Birds” at 80WSE Gallery in New York City. The exhibition considered over 60 modern and contemporary artists who have each expressed their own engagement with magical practice.  The exhibition traces over 100 years of occult art, including Leonora Carrington and Kurt Seligmann’s surrealist explorations, Kenneth Anger and Ira Cohen’s ritualistic experiments in film and photography, and the mystical probings of contemporary visionaries such as Francesco Clemente, Kiki Smith, Paul Laffoley, BREYER P-ORRIDGE, and Carol Bove. Artists also included Barry William Hale, William Mortensen, and Darcilio Lima. Grossman hosted a panel discussion on the occasion of the exhibition, which is viewable on ARTFORUM‘s website.

From the Press release for “Magic Maker”:

A magical guide to enhancing your creative process

Creativity and magic are one and the same.

Creative people often speak of being channels for inspiration, while others refer to communing with their muse. For many, this is more than mere metaphor, as artists throughout history have employed magical techniques to tap into their creativity, express powerful messages, and make contact with the sacred. From the songwriting divination of David Bowie and the bewitching shapeshifting of Beyoncé, to the Ouija board poetry sessions of Sylvia Plath and the abstract painting séances of Hilma af Klint, to the manifestation method of Octavia E. Butler and the daily meditation of David Lynch, mystical practices have been responsible for generating some of the world’s most beloved creations. While there are many books on creativity out there, none of them examines the specific ways that magic has been embraced by creative visionaries throughout history, nor do they explore how makers can start using these methods in their own creative processes.

Magic Maker is the first. In this book, critically acclaimed author of Waking the Witch Pam Grossman shares how you can use magic to enhance your own creative practices.

Smart, captivating, and gorgeously written, Magic Maker is filled with stories of artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and other creatives throughout history who have applied magic to their process. Grossman shows us how we can tap into the same inspiration for our own creative pursuits, whether it’s writing a song, a novel, software code, or figuring out our path in life.

Delving into topics such as spellcasting, invocation, spirit communication, divination, and more, Grossman provides an enchanting and practical guide for anyone who wants to unlock their own creative magic and make whatever it is you’re meant to in this lifetime.
