OTO’s Alec Redfearn Discusses His Artist Residency at Star & Snake

Last week we blogged about Brother Alec K. Refearn’s residency at the Star & Snake arts space. Alec’s shared some of his thoughts about the experience on his FB page:

“Currently resting up and getting a chance to process the two weeks I spent as an artist in residence at Star & Snake. I have to say, I’ve never experienced anything quite like this. The opportunity to share in this whirlwind of creative and magical energy is something for which I will be eternally grateful. I managed to write five new songs/pieces. One is based on Aleister Crowley’s Star Sapphire ritual and will appear on the next Alec K. Redfearn & the Eyesores album “The Opposite.” The other four pieces will be part of future project which will be based around texts from the Greek Magical Papyri (affectionately known as the PGM in the esoteric circles.) I went into this residency with a few riffs, a few instruments, a pile of books and no particular idea where I was going with any of this. I left with a few years of work cut out for me.

“(Speaking of which, anybody have any thoughts about the pronunciation of ancient Greek words of power? I you do, message me.)
I extend my eternal gratitude and admiration for the diligence, generosity and patience of my hosts Natan Alexander and K Lenore Siner and my fellow residents Matthew Venus and Christi Dionis. Your energy, talent and commitment to the concept of “art as magic” is an inspiration and it was an honor to share space with you.”
