Smithsonian Magazine recently published an article regarding an astonishing achievement in archaeological research – computer scientists at the University of Kentucky were able to “digitally unroll” and read a 1500 year old scroll of Bibical text that had been burned in antiquity and thus was too fragile to physically unroll without serious change of it crumbling into ash instantly.
