The New York Times Magazine just ran a spread of photos taken in the vicinity of the Kaaba — the one in Mecca not the one to be held in Oakland in November! It is fascinating to see the enviroment that’s been created around Islam’s holiest spot to accomodate the millions of pilgrims that visit each year. Perhaps in 1300 years this is what Cefalu will look like in the precincts surrounding the site of the Abbey of Thelema.
