As you probably already know, there will be a lunar eclipse early tomorrow morning. Space.com tells us, “This spectacular lunar event features the second full moon of the month, also known as a Blue Moon. The event will coincide with a total lunar eclipse, which is often referred to as a ‘blood moon’ because the moon turns a reddish or copper color when it passes through Earth’s shadow.” Interestingly, this year there will not be a full moon at all during the month of February.
Newsweek notes, “Astronomers in the western U.S., Australia and much of Canada, Russia and Asia will be able to see the moon in total eclipse. A partial eclipse will be visible across the eastern U.S., India, eastern Europe and Scandinavia. You can find out what kind of view you’ll have in your local area here.”
If you would like to celebrate with lunar foods, below in no particular order are some possible treats you might enjoy. Sources for these suggestions include Space.com, various recipe sites around the web, and especially The Thelemic Cookbook: Cooking with Correspondences (a book I strongly recommend to anyone who enjoys preparing themed feasts or who just enjoys good food).
