“The Music of Eric Zann” is one of H.P. Lovecraft’s most re-reprinted stories, one he himself rated as one of his very best and yet one of the least characteristic from his canon. In his own words: “I like it for what it hasn’t more than for what it has.”
Recently it was chosen as “Story of the Week” by Library of America who posted a useful introduction to the story and it’s history (the first time it was included in an anthology Lovecraft earned a lordly $25!) and a PDF of the tale.
