Magickal Women Conference is calling for papers to be submitted for consideration as presentations in the 2025 Conference. The posted explanation says:
The Magickal Women Conference is creating a series of four anthologies featuring stories connected to the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, be they found in the world around us, or forged from the elements themselves. These fractions of creativity aim to encourage and inspire magical thinking about the world around us.
In the second title of this series, we invite people to explore the element of air. Whether you write magical realism, folk horror, fantasy, or science fiction, we would love to read your submissions. What stories can be heard as the wind moves through the trees? We seek cumulus realms, the stories that can be found in the sound of a deep sigh, in the silence of the eye of a storm, in the hot breath of passion. We invite you to contribute your fraction of AIR.
Submissions close on 31 December, 2024.
Submitting fiction
- We are seeking magical realism, fantasy, fairy tales, speculative fiction, historical fiction, supernatural fiction (not horror), weird fiction, science fiction – the theme of air is more important than what genre the fiction is.
- Submissions should be between 2000 – 4000 words
- No simultaneous or multiple submissions; no re-submissions.
- We accept RTF, DOC or DOCX files in standard manuscript format where possible. Pronouns (optional) may be added along with your name and contact information in the upper left.
- Previously unpublished in English—we ask for first English print and digital (epub) rights.
