Here’s a wrap-up of the progress made on the preservation and restoration of Boleskine House:
*Started slating the roof
*Started lead work on the roof
*Completed all of the chimney rebuilding
*Laid all of the foundations internally
*Erected an internal timber frame to support the first floor
*Completed the internal wall consolidation
*Laid full internal drainage inside the building
*Completed the sowing of the wildflower meadow
*Started hedgerow planting
*Designed and ordered all windows for the building
*Started with the first coat of the external rendering
*Started guttering
*Installed high speed fibre internet
*Launched a new self guided tour option for visitors
*Won #TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Award for 2023
In addition, our dedicated community has helped us to fight off two planning applications (one for a housing estate next door and one for a mansion house bigger than Boleskine in the grounds of the estate).
As part of #Boleskine2024 we will:
*Finish the roof
*Install the windows
*Re-render the whole house
*Remove all of the scaffolding
*Apply for Listed Building Consent and Building Warrant for the internal fit out
*Tender the internal fit out to a main contractor
*Commence first fix electrics, plumbing, and insulation
*Undertake work for our wetlands and pond project
*Complete our hedgerow planting
*Start work on a new #ForestrySchool at Boleskine
Expect #Boleskine2024 to deliver a fully complete rebuild of the structure for the external, revealing a completed structure in around 7 months! Yes you read that right, we plan to be finished on everything for the external envelope by the end of July!
Every one of our supporters is helping us to not just rebuild a house but to preserve what we have, to enhance our nature, and to grow our community. Thank you for walking this journey with us and being part of creating a new Boleskine! With big plans expect lots of work on fundraising next year so that we can complete the rebuild by the end of 2025!
