Last month, the New Yorker ran a long, largely biographical piece on mystic / surrealist artist / author Leonora Carrington, touting the release this month of her surreal novel The Hearing Trumpet. Having read this novel over the Summer, I will note that it includes celebrations of non-Christianity deities and some of the more abstruse theories of aeonic cycles also embraced by the seminal occult Order, the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor. No mention of that side of Carrington’s career but oodles of biographical deets, so it’s lovely reading.
