I confess that I grew up with Wonder Woman as my hero.   I wanted to grow up just like her especially living on Themiscyra, the mystical island where the Amazons lived.   The new recent movie did an amazing job to show a variety of female forms in excellent athletic shape.

The beginning scenes Which brings me to a book that I would like to recommend, The Amazons: Lives and Legends of Warrior Women across the Ancient World by Adrienne Mayor.   The Amazons has won numberous awards such as the 2016 Saravati Award for Best Nonfiction Book in Women and Mythology, and the 2015 Silver Medal Winner in the Independent Publisher Book Awards in the World History category.   Mayor gives detail on the lives of these amazing ladies as seen in literature, history and archaeology.   This book is a must have for warrior women and Amazon loving enthusiasts.
