Using Warmth for Power

A hot cup of coffee

A hot cup of coffeeTwo design students in Copenhagen,Sergey Komardenkov and Vihanga Gore, have come up with a way to convert heat energy into electricity, rather than letting it go to waste.

Smithsonian tells us: “Though Heat Harvest is still speculative, the technology to recycle thermoelectric energy already exists. Scientists around the world have been experimenting with thermoelectricity capturing technologies for several years. Vodaphone even came up with a prototype of a sleeping bag that uses body heat to charge phones. Heat Harvest’s creators, Sergey Komardenkov and Vihanga Gore, see their idea as a way of bringing this kind of technology to the domestic realm.”

Considering the love that so many Thelemites have for their morning cup of coffee or tea, this idea may have a great deal of potential.

One Day, Your Cup of Coffee Could Charge Your Phone.
