Video of New Song From Behemoth Inspired by “Evocation of Bartzabel”

Polish Black Metal/Death Metal band Behemoth have released the first video from their new album I Loved You At Your Darkest, “Bartzabel.” The band’s lyricists, lead singer Nergal and Krzysztof Azarewicz (who you’ll find posting about Ordo Templi Orientis Polska on FB) drew from Aleister Crowley’s “An Evocation of Bartzabel” for the song.

On FB Krysztof explained:

“In the occult lore, Bartzabel is a name of the spirit of Mars, the planet of energy, action, desire and will. Aleister Crowley composed a particular ritual to evoke Bartzabel in which a magician is literally possessed by the spirit and serves as an oracle. The inspiration to this song comes from the performance of the rite that took place in the city of Krakow in October 2017 and lyrics are excerpts from Crowley’s ceremony.

“On the picture: one of Talismans of Mars being charged on the original Crowley’s notebook with the ritual. The talisman was used in Krakow’s working.”
