In the United States, May 9 is National Butterscotch Brownie Day. While it isn’t an official Thelemic holiday, Butterscotch Brownies are delicious. In celebration, we join Steve Eats the Food Calendar to make a batch!

1/4 cup (half stick) butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
12 oz bag butterscotch flavored chips (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Line 9″ x 13″ baking pan with parchment paper.

Melt butter in a small pot. In mixing bowl, add hot melted butter to brown sugar. Once the mix has cooled down a little, add egg. Mix in baking soda, salt, and flour. Add vanilla, then optional ingredients.

Press batter into pan.

Bake for about 25 minutes. Remove brownies in parchment from the hot pan.
