The First Name on Record

In magical technology, names are crucially important. The name and sigil/emblem of a spirt, celestial or infernal, is not merely a matter of assignation, it’s an active communications link and in fact an essential part of their existence. In Egyptian mythology, the deity Thoth/Tahuti completes creation initiated by Atum by naming things and thereby defining and constraining them.

Recently National Geographic ran a piece about the first human individuals who’s names, per se, are known to us. After logically thinking about who the most likely candidates would be for having their names recorded and deducing that it would be a major, male authority figure, study of historical records shows that at present the winner…(wait for it!)… AN ACCOUNTANT, in Sumeria.
