Led Zeppelin Loses First Round in Suit Over Authorship of “Stairway To Heaven”

We present Time.com’s report re: legal proceedings against Led Zeppelin regarding the authorship of “Stairway To Heaven” coz — let’s be honest, what Western occultist doesn’t have a warm spot in their heart for Jimmy Page and co. FESS UP! Time.com reports: “For decades, Led Zeppelin has faced claims that they plagiarized their iconic 1971 hit “Stairway to Heaven” from the rock band Spirit. Now it looks like Zeppelin is headed for a difficult legal battle.” You can read the full report here: http://time.com/3528555/led-zeppelin-loses-first-round-in-stairway-to-heaven-lawsuit/

All though, to our amateur ears, while Zep clearly nicked a riff from Spirit’s “Taurus” “Stairway To Heaven” seems substantially an original composition. On the other hand, it might appear that they pinched Jake Holmes’ “Dazed And Confused” in its entirety for “Dazed And Confused” – and the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page on guitar in fact covered “I’m Confused” in concert as documented on long out of print live recordings.
