International Association for the Preservation of Spiritualist and Occult Periodicals

This is cool! An online repository for Spiritualist and Occult periodicals. So, “occult,” you understand why that’s of interest. Spiritualist – well, this is the movement that gave rise to figures like Pascal Beverly Randolph and Emma Harding Britten who laid much of the foundation for modern occultism in developing the theory and practice of “active mediumship” which superceded the passive mediumship that characterized/s Spiritualism. The concept of learning how to control contact and communication with discarnate intelligences underlies the work of the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor, Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and most of the magickal Orders that emanated from them. The site says:

“You can browse the periodical archive by title, below. Materials include (a) important reports and (b) periodicals, all arranged by title.

“Anne Braude’s pathfinding 1990 checklist of American Spiritualist periodicals, “News from the Spirit World: A Checklist of American Spiritualist Periodicals 1847-1900,” is accessible on the American Antiquarian Society’s web site.

“For free-text search of the materials on this site, use the Google-based search interface. Keep in mind that some periodicals archived here are not yet indexed, and therefore will not be returned in search results.
