Daona Releasing “Nightside of Eden”

On October 7, London’s Faustus Recordings will be releasing new music from the English duo Daona, “Nightside of Eden.”

The session will be going out on the great Mid-Valley Mutations programme on KLFM.org 3pm PST / 6pm EST / 11pm GMT / 12am CET.

It will be available as a podcast on midvalleymutations.com afterwards.

Their description is:

“Commissioned by Mid-Valley Mutations and inspired by the work of Kenneth Grant, Nightside of Eden is a 20-minute long-form piece, a musical journey of exploration through different sounds and atmospheres, from delicate piano improvisations to motorik-inspired electronica. The piece features guests David Birchall, Francis Comyn, Jon Free, Chris McAlister and Raúl Solomons, and is dedicated to the writer Dave Evans (1964-2013).

“Daona is a duo formed one sunny Sunday morning in 2012 on the beach in Brighton, England. Since then, they have performed and recorded periodically, the most recent fruit of the latter being the 2019 album ‘The Secret Assembly’. As well as the central duo, the album included contributions from some other great musicians that the band respect highly: Edgar Breau of Canada’s illustrious proto-punks Simply Saucer, Gary Spain from San Francisco’s legendary Chrome and saxophone pioneer and innovator Evan Parker.”
