CBS Casts Actor in Role of Jack Parsons For “Strange Angel” TV series

CBS’s paid streaming service CBS All Access has announced the casting of Jack Reynor as Jack Parsons in the Strange Angel series currently in pre-production. CBS All Access’ site states:

“The upcoming CBS All Access Original Series has cast Jack Reynor to star as famed rocket engineer Jack Parsons.

“Reynor is perhaps best known for his starring roles in the Golden Globe-nominated film Sing Street and Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction. The actor will next be seen in Lionsgate’s upcoming sci-fi action-thriller Kin, and Andy Serkis’ Warner Bros. feature The Jungle Book.

Strange Angel follows Parsons, a brilliant and ambitious blue-collar worker of 1930s Los Angeles who started as a janitor at a chemical factory but had fantastical dreams that led him to birth the unknown discipline of American rocketry.

Along the way, he fell into a mysterious world that included sex magick rituals at night, and he became a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley. Parsons used Crowley’s teachings of self-actualization to support his unimaginable and unprecedented endeavor to the stars.

Strange Angel, created by Mark Heyman (Black SwanThe Skeleton Twins) and based on George Pendle’s book of the same name, is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions.

Mark Heyman, David DiGilio, Ridley Scott, and David W. Zucker will serve as Executive Producers; Clayton Krueger will be Co-Executive Producer, and David Lowery (A Ghost StoryPete’s Dragon) will direct and executive produce.

Strange Angel is part of CBS All Access‘ current slate of original series, including Star Trek: DiscoveryThe Good Fight, and No Activity, as well as upcoming originals $1The Twilight ZoneTell Me a Story, and yet-to-be-announced programming.
