Amber Rose, Slutwalk, and Sexual Freedom

Slut Walk Toronto 2012

Amber RoseSlutWalk has become a global movement with grassroots success in over 200 countries, taking a stand against sexual injustice, victim blaming, and derogatory labeling. It began 2011 in Toronto, when a police officer told a crowd of college women that if they wanted to avoid sexual assault, they shouldn’t “dress like sluts.” The Amber Rose SlutWalk Festival is an all-inclusive not-for-profit event, playing a monumental role in the movement towards gender equality.

Amber Rose herself is in many ways famous for being famous, but her outspoken demands for sexual equality are in keeping with Thelemic values. Uproxx reports: “She’s crazy honest and clearly committed to what she is doing. We’ve also included some pics from this year’s SlutWalk because people who attend do the most. There’s a performance aspect of attendance in the march and it’s worth observing and incorporating into the larger message.”
